Martha Usher Quandt, age 74, of Carmel, Indiana passed away at her home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 with her husband holding her hand. Martha was born December 24, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up and attended schools in Indianapolis. Martha was a proud graduate of Shortridge High School (class of 1965). She then earned her first undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania (class of 1969). Her second undergraduate degree (R.N.) was obtained from Old Dominion University.
Martha spent the majority of her adult life living in Virginia before returning to Indianapolis in 2000. While in Virginia she began work as a teacher and librarian, before earning her Nursing Degree. She enjoyed time with her son Christopher, family fishing adventures, camping, crafting, and eating delicious seafood.
Martha was a kind and gentle soul who always put the needs of others first. She was fiercely intelligent and had a penetrating insight into human foibles. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in hospitals before focusing on case management in mental health for adolescents. She was most fulfilled helping youth with their challenges, and always embraced an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.
Martha enjoyed gardening and was a creative Certified Master Gardener. She was well known on the auction circuit in Indianapolis as she was always looking for an antique bargain or two. She also loved surf fishing the coastal waters of North Carolina, traveling to the casinos in Vegas to play the slot machines, and cooking a thoughtful dinner for her family and friends.
She also loved musical theater with WICKED being her favorite play. She and her husband saw it performed 23 times in seven different states and London. Martha always appreciated the simple things that life has to offer.

Quandt; beloved son, Christopher Andrews; grateful grandchildren, Campbell & Grayson Andrews; dear siblings, Caroline Usher, Jonathan (Melodie) Usher, Roland (Deborah )Usher, Christine Wilson, Joan Knox, Carolyn Goldsmith, Douglas Wilson, and Kathleen Kindberg.
