Nora Louise Brugh danced her way to heaven on October 20, 2023, surrounded by those who loved her. Nora was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on August 18,1948 and has been sharing her abundant heart, boundless energy, and creative artistry ever since. She graduated from Sharon Senior High School and received a B.S. in Art Education from Ball State University.
Nora had a passion for art from a young age. She loved painting, drawing, and her favorite, watercolor. She taught middle and high school art for many years prior to staying at home with her children and opening her successful business in Fort Wayne Indiana, Creations by Nora. She was a gifted and innovative artist and dedicated entrepreneur, who also loved helping people create beautiful spaces.
Although Nora had a natural talent in art, her true love was her family and those close to her. She was a band and choir parent and there through all of life’s stages with her two children, Rachael and Joe. The light of her world was her three grandchildren, whom she would teach to draw, cook, and as she called it “dig in the dirt,” which others might call yard work.
When those close to Nora remember her, they think of the spunky, welcoming, loving, and talented woman that she was. She did not know a stranger and made those around her feel loved and valued. She was a natural comedian with a sense of sass that remained with her through her disease.
Nora will be welcomed to heaven by her parents Saul and Monica Bennon and sister Betty Smock. Her legacy will be continued on earth by her daughter Rachael Whitlock (Adam) and son Joseph Brugh (Christy), her grandchildren Noah, Della, and Marlee Whitlock, her sisters Lois Bennon and Alice Baker, and her brothers Robert Bennon (Patricia) and William Bennon.
The family would like to personally thank the staff at Harcourt Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation for their dedication and love to Nora during her final years.
A memorial visitation for Nora will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Leppert Mortuary – Carmel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032. Following the memorial visitation will be a a celebration of life at 11:30 AM at Leppert Mortuary – Carmel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032.
In lieu of flowers, because we all know Nora preferred silk flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Nora’s name or pay her love and kindness forward by bringing your extended family together for a reunion or meal and invite those who don’t have a close family, wear overalls, or mentor a young person in your field. Feel free to send pictures to share spreading your love and kindness.
