Norma Lou Wood

96, of Indianapolis, departed this life Friday, April 29, 2022 in Greenwood. She was born June 7, 1925 in Norman Station, Indiana to the late Rolla Theodore and Anna Laura (Reeves) Martin. Norma grew up and attended schools in Eureka, Illinois.

Norma worked for the State of Indiana for many years as a secretary and typist and also for the Disciples of Christ Church. She was devoted to her Lord and church and always put faith and family first in her life. She was a former member of Speedway Christian Church and Downey Avenue Christian Church. Norma also regularly volunteered at the Indianapolis Public Library – Chapel Hill Branch. She was a kind and gentle soul who happiest making memories with her family and friends and reading her Bible.

Norma is survived by her loving sons, Jack (Dawn) Nelson and Bert (Susan) Nelson; dear grandsons, Chris and Alex Nelson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Woodrow Martin, Ted Martin, Cassie Siebert and Alora Johnson.

A visitation for Norma will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 4th and conclude at time of services at 2:00 pm at Leppert Mortuary – Smith Carmel Chapel. Private entombment follows at Lincoln Memory Gardens.
