Randy was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 26, 1956. He spent his formative years in both Lafayette and Indianapolis, attending St. Boniface and Immaculate Heart of Mary for grade school. Randy was a highly accomplished student, devoted athletic trainer and manager for basketball and baseball at Bishop Chatard High School. At Purdue University, he was elected to a leadership role within the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After graduating from Purdue in 1980, Randy served in many leadership roles throughout his career as a civil engineer.
Outside of his successful professional career, Randy was a devoted husband, father, and “Grandy.” Randy was a people person, voracious reader, trivia wiz, sports enthusiast, avid golfer, and dedicated Purdue fan. Randy will be remembered for his unwavering faith, sense of humor, wit, laugh and storytelling. Never knowing a stranger, he cherished countless lifelong friendships. Above all, he most valued his faith, family and tradition.
Randy is survived by his wife of 40 years Jennifer (Kettler), daughters Kelly (Taylor) Moore and Brady (Josh) Albrecht. He was a proud “Grandy” to 3 grandkids – Reagan, Lincoln and Sage. He is also survived by brothers Terry (Kit) Sage and Kevin (Julie) Sage, sister Christy (Dave) Wightman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Pat and Rosemary Sage.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 4th from 4:00pm until 7:30pm at Leppert Mortuary located at 900 N Rangeline Rd, Carmel, IN 46032.
On Thursday June 5th there will be additional visitation time from 10:00am-11:00am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. A mass of Christian burial will start at 11:00am followed by a luncheon for family and friends at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Randy’s memory to the Cholagiocarcinoma Foundation, the Tyler Trent Cancer Research Endowment or the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research.
