Riley Jay Bradford, 92 years of age, late of Carmel and Indianapolis passed away on September 29, 2021.
He was born in Indianapolis on January 4, 1929 to the late James and Margaret Bradford. He had one brother, James Warren, who preceded him in death. Riley was a graduate of Park School (1947) and the Indiana University School of Business. He retired from the City of Indianapolis as Assistant Controller of the Department of Public Works.
Riley took great pride in having been a member of the Marine Corp Reserve as a young man. He also was a member of the US Army and served in the Korean War. Riley served with the Military Police Prisoner of War Processing Company from late 1951 to early 1953 before his Honorable Discharge from Military Service.
Upon his return from Military Service and graduation from College, Riley met and married the great love of his life, Diane, who preceded him in death in 2015. Before her passing, Riley and Diane spent many years traveling the world as part of Diane’s travel business.
Riley is survived by his daughters, Terri (Donald) Beal and Tammy (David) Obendorf, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the name of Riley and Diane Bradford to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
A visitation for Riley will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leppert Mortuaries – Carmel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
Inurnment follows at Crown Hill Cemetery.
