Robert (Bob) A. Schlifke 71 passed away on December 15, 2020 in Westfield, IN. Bob was born in South Bend, Indiana on June 25, 1949 to Arthur R. Schlifke and Maxine K. Schlifke (Clemans), who predeceased him. Bob is survived by his wife Susan (Luekens) Schlifke; sons Gregory (Rachelle) of Westfield, IN and Peter (Sarah) of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren William, Emily, Cole, Lucia, Iyla and Josef; his sister Deborah Clark of Zionsville, IN; and a nephew Jonathan Clark of Washington, D.C. His family, especially the grandchildren, were the light of his life. Bob was a 1967 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School, South Bend. He received his BA degree in Political Science from Valparaiso University in 1971, and his JD from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1974. He was a 2017 graduate of the Education for Ministry program of The University of the South, Swanee, TN. Bob practiced law in South Bend for 40 years, and was also a member of the adjunct faculty at Indiana University South Bend for more than 20 years. He served as a St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor; a member of the St. Joseph County Board of Zoning Appeals, the St. Joseph County Humane Society, Parkview Juvenile Center Board of Directors, and on the congregational council at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Since moving to Westfield, IN in 2013 he has been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Indianapolis where he served on the Stewardship Strategy Committee and on the Parish Vestry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions mby be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 6050 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46208; and to Valparaiso University, 1700 Chapel Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383. A private family service will be help at St. Paul's Episcopal Church due to Covid-19.
