Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard. Ken was the owner of a bus company, Carrollton Tours from 1978 until his retirement in 2015. He loved his family and always had a positive attitude. Even at the end, he continually told the hospital staff that "he had the best life anybody could ask for".
Ken was preceded in death by his parents John Henry Birchfield and Mary Elizabeth White Birchfield.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Birchfield; daughter, Melanie Loftis; grandson, Dewel Loftis and his wife Kaitlin; great granddaughter, Scarlett Loftis.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24 from 4-8 p.m. at Rhoton Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25 at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy Dallas, Texas 75211.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Disabled Veterans or to The Salvation Army.
