“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
Bertha Ann McLeod, 69, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 in Corinth, Texas. She was born May 24, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Willie and Bertha Lewis. She married John (Jake) McLeod in 1984 and he preceded her in death.
Bertha was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and her faith and strength came from her relationship with the Lord. Despite the overwhelming challenges Bertha faced throughout her life, especially with her health in recent years, she never stopped proclaiming the goodness and loving kindness of God. She was instrumental in bringing many people to Christ as she witnessed in word and in deed.
While her chosen profession was customer service, at which she excelled, Bertha was talented in other ways. As a young child, she wrote and directed plays that her siblings happily performed. In her later years, she discovered a God-given talent: the ability to create one-of-a-kind collector dolls. She sold her dolls in boutique shops, at trade shows, and online under her trademark, “My Delight.”
She is survived by her sons, Michael Anderson, Ricardo Eric Muniz and daughter-in-law Sarita Sabanal Muniz, and Mark Adam Cole. Her fourth son, David Edward Cole, preceded her in death. She leaves six grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters Lionel Lewis, Willie Lewis, Jr., Rosemary Brittain, Ramona Washington and brother-in-law Clint Washington, Christopher Lewis and sister-in-law Ann Lewis, Lloyd Lewis and sister-in-law Svetlana Lewis, Sheila Lola Lewis, and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be at 10 am Monday, February11th at Rhoton Funeral Home with Minister Bobby Vernon officiating.
