Born on October 19, 1932, in Whitney, Texas, to Charles Leo and Tracey Weeks, Bob spent his early years working on the family farm—an experience that shaped his lifelong values of hard work and humility. In 1954, he was drafted into the military. After completing basic training in El Paso, he was stationed in San Antonio, where a chance blind date changed the course of his life. Three months later, he married Gayle, beginning a 56-year love story that endured until her passing in 2013.
Bob spent his entire career at Texas Instruments, where he led the Quality Assurance department. His contributions helped shape key processes, and he was honored to develop and teach a college course based on his work—an achievement that reflected his dedication to excellence and education.
Together, Bob and Gayle raised two children, Charles Weeks and Vickie Murphree. Though his job often required travel, Bob rarely missed a game or event. He proudly supported his children’s activities, from the ballfield to the FFA show ring—especially when it came to Vickie, who shared his birthday and a special father-daughter bond that ran deep. A family favorite story tells of Vickie blaring “Bobbie’s Girl” on her record player during childhood disagreements, always finding her way back to his patient and loving presence.
In their adult lives, Bob remained deeply involved. He helped Vickie run her business and was proud to be part of her journey. He also loved cheering on Charles, who dedicated more than 30 years to coaching and education, mentoring students across four different sports. Whether in the bleachers or on the sidelines, Bob was always his biggest supporter.
Bob was a devoted grandfather to Jackie, with whom he shared many lively conversations about life, work, and politics—sometimes requiring a gentle referee. He found joy in the simplest pleasures: morning coffee with friends, card games full of laughter, and long chats where he could share a joke (often a corny one) and a story or two.
