Buzz Langley, age 71, was born March 12, 1949 in Smackover, AR to Courtney and Christine (Stanford) Langley. He passed away suddenly on June 16, 2020 in Carrollton, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cathy Langley. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Melinda Thompson (and Curtis Thompson) and his children, including sons, Spencer Elliot, Michael A. Langley; stepson, Allen W. Andersen; daughters, Donna A. Davis (and David Davis), Anisa M. Hubbard (and Trey Hubbard), Courtney C. Accetta (and Anthony Accetta Jr.) and seven grandchildren.
Buzz graduated from Smackover High School where he received several awards and recognition for performances playing the tuba and qualified for All-State Band in 1967. In 1969, he moved to Houston, TX where he played tuba for the Houston Symphony Orchestra for one year and, over the next several years, explored his love for music and performing throughout downtown Houston as a guitarist and pianist. Buzz was an exceptionally talented musician and, although in the last several years he did not perform for the public, he never stopped playing, writing and learning new music, including several new instruments.
While in Houston, Buzz began working for Ford Motor Company and the UAW. Buzz worked at several distribution facilities throughout Texas as a Shipping & Receiving Clerk, a Parts Picker and a Representative for the UAW; however, he settled into the Dallas area in 1988 and worked for the Carrollton, TX and Alliance, TX Distribution Centers. It was also during this time, Buzz and Cathy met in Houston and were married in 1986. Buzz retired from Ford and the UAW in 2006 after 36 years at the company.
Buzz spent much of his time in retirement connecting with high school friends, colleagues from Ford/UAW and family. He had fostered a warm and welcoming family of friends through Facebook and looked forward to daily conversations and connections with them. These friendships gave him so much joy and, for that, we will always be thankful.
Buzz will be remembered for being a friend to many, a lover of all animals, a Mustang enthusiast and a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a person who made friends wherever he went, could talk to anyone no matter their background and could light up a room with his humor.
Buzz will so dearly be missed. Life will not be the same without you.
Until next time… We love you.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, memorial services for Buzz will be delayed. Within the near future, we will be organizing a Celebration of Life event for friends and family to come together; however, we want to be certain it can be done at a point when it is safe for everyone to travel and be within close proximity to one another. All news and updates regarding this event will be disseminated here and on social media.
In lieu of flowers, we are kindly asking for donations to a memorial fund established for the benefit of Cathy Langley. Any and all amounts are thoroughly appreciated. Please find Buzz's memorial, through GoFundMe below at:
