Born to Oscar “Doc” and Josephine “Josie” Hundley in Celina, TX. Preceded in death by Lauren Dennis LaTour, her husband of 57 years, she passed in her sleep on October 7. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Sandra and Dwayne Townsend, Anita and Andy Schoeneberger, Denny and Mila LaTour, Kevin LaTour. At 96 years of age, she could brag of having 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Grandchildren: Scott Townsend, Bryan Townsend, Tracy Townsend, Todd Townsend, Brent Townsend, Nick Schoeneberger, Andrea Schoeneberger, Anna Schoeneberger, Darla LaTour, Diana LaTour, Jason LaTour, Laurin LaTour, Cristin LaTour.
Edith will be remembered by her family for her wonderful cooking, especially her delicious pies. Those who attempted have never been able to duplicate her flaky, delicate pastry crusts, even under her direction. She enjoyed growing a beautiful garden and many people stopped to compliment her on the gorgeous, large, and colorful hydrangeas. An avid bowler, for many years she and her husband competed together in league play.
She loved all things old and was a collector of antique dolls.
She was also known as “the doll lady” for her generous work repairing and dressing dolls, donating them to charity in Dallas. A converted Catholic, she was a founding member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Our Lady of Lourdes #1784.
Viewing and Rosary will be held at 12:30pm, Monday, October 13, at Calvary Hill Cemetery Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, followed by Requiem Mass and interment.
