Ed enlisted in the United States Navy on June 15, 1955, where he was a part of the fifth naval district and was stationed at Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia. There he was assigned to the USS Norfolk navy ship until his honorable discharge on June 18, 1963.
After the military Ed worked as a coal miner in West Virginia. He moved to Texas in 1979 and work as a supervisor in the plastic manufacturing industry while maintaining a family business called Lyons Janitorial Services.
While he was a busy man Ed loved spending his free time going out bowling or playing bingo. His favorite time was when the whole family would come to spend Christmas at the Lyons House. Ed loved seeing everyone’s faces at Christmas and spending time together with the whole family and lifelong friends.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents; Leonard Leslie Lyons and Virginia Elizabeth Hancock Lyons, his sister; Ann Lee Collins, and his son; David Reynolds.
He is survived by his brother; Larry L. Lyons, the mother of his children; Barbara Narans, his Children; Stan Lyons (Barbara Lyons), Cindy Marten, Gene Reynolds (Rebecca Reynolds), Sandy Esquivel (Bob Esquival), Pamela Reynolds (Dale Thompson), Virginia Coker (Rick Henson), and Leonard Lyons (Christina Lyons) and his grandchildren; Heather Rinehart Adams, Lisa Rinehart Adams, Michael Rinehart, Phillip Bolle, Kayce Bolle, Brandi Simmons, Tayla Cline, Dallis Reynolds, Jordan Coker, Brandon Galaviz, Gavin Lyons, and Leonard Lyons Jr. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
