James Joseph Shively 1947- 2024 James “Jim” Shively passed away January 30, 2024 in Carrollton, Texas. Jim was born June 13, 1947, to John Raymond and Josephine Shively in Walnut, Kansas.

He graduated from Girard High School in 1966. Worked for the Walnut Post Yard, which his father owned until 1969. He married Janis Gammaitoni on June 7, 1969 in Frontenac, Ks. He went 1 yr. to Pittsburg State, in Pittsburg, KS. He graduated from Kansas Newman University, Wichita, Ks.

Jim started working at a printing company in Girard, Ks. until he moved to Carrollton, Texas in 1972. He became very interested in coins and started Dallas Rare Coins in Dallas, Tx in 1986. His love of coins allowed him to have his business for nearly 40 yrs. He was an expert in coins and a lifetime Numismatic Member. His passion for history and coin collecting was his joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Josephine Shively, brothers William “Bill” Shively, John “Jack” Raymond Shively, II, and sister Evelyn Sevart.

Jim was survived by his sister Mary Ann Sedam and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Walnut, Kansas.
