

Age 87, passed away on June 2, 2011 in Carrollton, TX. Born August 12, 1923 to Robert and Ola Mae Woody in Mineola, TX. Jesse is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patsy Woody of Carrollton, TX; daughter, Linda Woody of Carrollton, TX; son, Paul Woody of Gordonville, TX; grandsons, Wade Woody of Ft. Worth, TX and Russell Woody of Gordonville, TX; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Roberts of Shreveport, LA, Imogene James and husband Phil of Highland Village and Loretta Payne and husband Roy of Denton, TX; brothers, Homer Shockey and wife Mary of Everman, TX and Darrell Shockey and wife Flo of Hurst, TX. Mr. Woody served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Gunner’s Mate and fought in the Pacific. Jesse was also very involved in his community and a natural leader. He served on the Carrollton City Council from 1964 – 1972, was Mayor Pro-tem of Carrollton for 2 years, held a position on the Metrocrest Hospital Authority Board for 21 years and he was on the Board of Directors for numerous banks. Jesse was also very adventurous and owned several successful businesses including 4 locations of Woody’s White Auto Store including the location in the downtown square of Carrollton as well as numerous other businesses such as real estate, investment companies and aluminum and granite companies. Mr. Woody was a natural leader and inspiration to many and he will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 6 – 8 pm at Rhoton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11 am also at the funeral home with interment to follow at Furneaux Cemetery in Carrollton, TX.
