
Jimmy Lee Meltabarger, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 22, 1944, in Cañon City, Colorado, Jimmy was a wise and faithful man whose presence will be missed by all who knew him.
Raised in Littleton, Colorado, Jimmy graduated from Littleton High School in 1962. He continued his education at the Colorado School of Mines in 1964 and later earned his master's degree in 2020.
In March of 1966, Jimmy enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served with distinction for two years in the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal before his honorable discharge in March of 1968. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and successful career at AT&T, working as an engineer for 55 years.
In 1966, Jimmy married Maryann Martinez, and together they built a loving family, welcoming two sons, Mathew and Mark. In his later years, he was blessed with three grandsons, Ethan, Aidan, and Landon, whom he loved and cherished.
Jimmy was a man of diverse interests. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, reading, golfing, and watching various sports. He was an active church member and an avid collector of coins and guns. Known for his extensive knowledge of history, Jimmy was a person who never met a stranger and was proud of his Marine family.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann Meltabarger; his sons, Mathew Meltabarger, wife Debbie, and Mark Meltabarger, wife Natalia; his grandsons, Ethan, Aidan, and Landon Meltabarger; and his niece, Shelly Hall, husband Kevin. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Meltabarger, his sister, Vonell Shoemaker, and his brother, Leonard Riddle.
A memorial service will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home, located at 1511 South Interstate 35e, Carrollton, TX 75006, on December 22, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A committal service will follow at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 76244, starting at 2:00 pm.
Jimmy's legacy as a faithful, church member and a loving family man will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
