

Joan was born on August 9, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan. She was called to be with Jesus on Sunday evening, November 11, 2012 in Carrollton, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents George Guenther and Hilda Lambert Guenther; her first husband, Jay E. Tolin; and her second husband, Patrick L. Esposite.
She is survived by her two children Timothy E. Tolin and his wife, K. Sue of Ruth, MI and Diane K. Tolin Paul and her husband, Martin of Plano, TX. She had 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Sue McCann and her husband Tom.
Joan graduated from Detroit Southeastern High School in Detroit, MI in 1936. She was a life-time member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Chapter No. 392 in Royal Oak, MI. After Joan graduated from high school she went to work in a drapery shop until she married her first husband, Jay E. Tolin. She then became a housewife and mother to two children, Timothy and Diane. Later on she went to work at a Montgomery Ward Department Store in the drapery and curtain department until she married her second husband, Patrick L. Esposite. After his death she went back to work at a Joann Fabric and Craft Store where she worked until she retired.
All during her lifetime Joan loved to sew, crochet and do Word Search puzzles. Joan loved to watch classic movies on the Turner Classic Movie channel and on DVD. Her favorite movies were: The Quiet Man, The Shop Around The Corner, The Bishop’s Wife, The African Queen, Father Goose, Only Angels Have Wings, Guys and Dolls and Pride and Prejudice. She also loved British murder mysteries, especially The Midsomer Murders. She loved Charlie Brown and Snoopy from the Peanut’s characters. She was also an avid Hallmark Keepsake Ornament collector. She had a holiday tradition with her daughter that every year when they would put up the Christmas tree they would always watch White Christmas and The Polar Express while decorating the Christmas Tree.

There will not be a funeral service or memorial service. Joan’s final resting place will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Detroit, MI where she will be buried with her first husband, Jay.
The Texas family will be celebrating her life by receiving family and friends this Sunday afternoon from 1:00-6:00 pm at their home in Plano, TX. The Michigan family will be planning a celebration of her life at a later time.
