
Age 64, passed away on November 2, 2011 in Carrollton, Texas. Kenneth was born on July 31, 1947 in Bonham, Texas to Alva F. “Spider” and Mary “Tina” (Stephens) Carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Pam Carpenter; children, Shannon Carpenter and Dusty Carpenter; Step-children, Jay Denny Strickland and Chris Shane Strickland; grandchildren, Greyson, Zachory, Jeramiah, Jaedyn, Cheyenne and Whey; nieces, Teresa, Kim, Angela, Lexie and Jennifer; nephew, Randy and sisters, Frances Ramsey and Amanda Ward. Kenneth graduated from Garland High School in 1965 and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He also served on the City Council in Rowlett for 8 years. Mr. Carpenter was a true entrepreneur and ran his own insurance company for over 20 years before moving to Carrollton, Texas in 1997 and starting his own irrigation and backflow business, A & A Active Backflow. He was also Grand Marshall at Nascar for Windstar twice and was scheduled to wave the green flag on Friday, November 4th, 2011. His son, Dusty Carpenter, had the honor of waving the green flag for him in his memory. Kenneth was also an avid collector of baseball cards and various sports memorabilia. He enjoyed life, loved his family dearly, and had the greatest sense of humor. Even though his nickname was Scrooge, he had a pure heart of gold and his loving nature was always evident. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 6 – 8 pm at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton, Texas. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 9 am also at the funeral home with interment to follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:30 am in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund at P.O Box 33099 Bloomfield Hills, MI 48303-0003.
