Born April 17, 1923 in Kyle, TX
Died June 15, 2013 in Farmers Branch, TX
On her 72nd wedding anniversary, “Margie” at the age of 90, joined the second love of her life besides Jesus, Wallace, for their great anniversary gift -- eternity with the One they had faithfully served. Her children, Wallace J. Worley, Jr., Cleora Harris, William R. Worley, and Mark C. Worley have never seen a more devoted wife, mom, and grandmother. She modeled to them and their spouses, Judy Worley, Bill Harris, Sr. (deceased), Rosie Dunn Worley, and Caroline Latch Worley, what a great marriage looked like. She was a loving grandmother to Tammy Worley Marvin, Michael Worley and his wife Laurie, David Worley and his wife Janet, Marjory Harris, Bill Harris, Jr. and his wife Angela, Daniel Worley, Zachary Worley and his wife Ashley, Aimee Worley Phillips and her husband Mark, Gus Furlong and his wife Trina. She was also great-grandmother to Joseph and Jonathan Harris, Alex and Kelsey Marvin, Samantha and Cassidy Worley, Sara and Samuel Worley, Zane and Wyatt Worley, Mollie Worley, Elliana and Jordan Moss-Worley, and Justin and Jessica Furlong. She understood what family looked like as she came from a strong family. She is survived by her brothers L.C. and Roger Thiele and her sister Charlene (Tiny) McCuistion. She is preceded in death by her brothers Herman Thiele and Wayne Sanders.
Her husband, Wallace Worley, also preceded her in death in February 26, 2005. In her final years of life, Marjory struggled with dementia, but she never forgot her husband and longed to be with him. That is no wonder -- Marjory wrote these words in a 1984 Christmas letter, “Wallace and I held 54 workshops for bookstores in seven states this spring. We had booths at the Kiamichi Clinic and the Rendezvous in Oklahoma, also and was with two grandsons, Michael and David, at the Christ in Youth Conferences in Tennessee and Michigan. Then [we] did the CIY Conferences in Colorado and Missouri and the North American Convention in Atlanta . . . Wallace and I and three grandchildren went to the Christian Booksellers Convention in Anaheim, California. Wallace worked in Standard’s booth, while one grandson had youth tours each day and the other two went with me to see the displays and order supplies for the bookstore. We went to Disneyland, where for 14 hours we rode rides and saw all the delightful sights! Great time! In October, we and my sister took a three week, very enjoyable trip to [Europe] . . . November and December, we’ve been busy with the bookstore and a few weeks of travel to Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma for Standard and getting ready for Christmas. All of our children and grandchildren live in the area and we have a grand time during this season.” She ended that letter with these words, “Tho’ our hearts have been saddened by death this year [the passing of her mother], we have many, many things to be thankful and very grateful to the Lord for . . . our loved ones, health, strength, and happiness in the love of our family. May you and yours be blessed in all ways . . .”
Marjory would ask in her later years, “Where is Wallace? Is he at the Bible Book Store, or at Dallas Christian College for a meeting? Did he go to a meeting at the church?” Even though her short-term memory was gone, in the end her mind was always on their service together - to the church, to DCC, and to the family.
“Where’s Wallace?” On June 15, 2013 - their anniversary, Wallace showed up to welcome her home.
In lieu of flowers, Marjory and her family request that donations be sent in memory of Marjory Worley to Dallas Christian College for “Wallace’s” and/or their Scholarship Fund.
