

Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm on Friday, March 27at Jay Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt, PA.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, March 28 at Jay Hoffer Funeral Home with the Reverend Eric Dennis of Linway United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran cemetery in Trauger.
Richard was born in Pittsburgh to Lawrence and Jean (Wilson) Kunkler on November 19, 1928. He went to school at Wilkinsburgh High School and enjoyed working with his father at Kunkler & Nobs Grocery Store. He married Dorothy Lorraine Heide on August 17, 1950 in Trauger. He attended Findlay College and the University of Pittsburgh. Richard worked as a General Manager for Kroger Co., and a Restaurant Manager for Marriot Corp. prior to beginning his longest tenured position as a supervisor in the IHOP system. For 34 years he was associated with Linda Pont Corp. and VCM Corp., touching and influencing the lives of many. He later enjoyed working with his daughter in helping to supervise an IHOP franchise. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army where he was awarded the Occupation Medal in Germany as an Artillery Chief. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Flower Mound, Texas.
Richard was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, and his brother Lawrence Jr.
Richard is survived by his wife Dorothy; his brother Arthur Kunkler; his Daughter Sandra Streett (David); his sons Donald Kunkler (Louanna), and Richard Kunkler, (Noelle); Grandchildren Jonathan, Jason, Lindsay and Patrick Kunkler, Jennifer and Jeffrey Streett, and Dakota Saunders; Great Grandchildren Emily Kesler, and Reagan and Andrew Penner; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
The family of Richard wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Lewisville Medical Center who gave of themselves throughout his care.
