Robert Raymond Joseph Tyler was born on October 28, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Pre-deceased by his brother who brought Joy to everyone he touched, Richie. Robert led a life filled with love, faith, and service.
Robert met the love of his life, Darlene, in the spring of 1961 playing softball together in the Fernwood Rec League. They married on April 27, 1963, beginning a beautiful union under God, at Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Francis, WI, that spanned over six decades. Together, they raised six children (spouses): Debi and (Scott), Christopher, Garrod and (Jodi), Anthony and (Katie), Jude’, and Lenn. Bob’s family grew to include several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a source of pride and joy.
He dedicated much of his career to the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1998 after decades of hard work. In 1999, Robert and Darlene moved to Carrollton, Texas, where they became cherished members of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic parish. Robert's faith was central to his life, and he was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother and Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, the “Little Flower.” A rose petal was found on the floor next to him as he entered eternal life.
Robert’s interests reflected his zest for life. A Detroit Lions fan and a lover of all things baseball, he also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing softball. He had a special fondness for the music of Elvis Presley and treasured songs like “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” He would stop what he was doing when the song came on and dance with Darlene, no matter the time or the place. Their alternate song was “O How We Danced” by Al Jolson. His favorite color was green, a shade that reflected his love for nature and the outdoors.
Known for his warmth, humor, and unwavering faith, Robert left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on in the love he shared, the family he cherished, and the community he enriched.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Carrollton, TX on February 21, 2025 at 10:30 am.
May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the Blessed Mother and Saint Thérèse.
