Wayne Richardson Harris was born in Dallas, Texas on January 19, 1949 to Edith Rebecca (nee McDonald) and Edgar Wayne Richardson. He passed from this life on earth April 11, 2026, from the advanced stage of COPD. Wayne was raised by his dear stepfather B. F. “Ben” Harris, even formally changing his name as an adult to honor him.
He was part of the last sophomore class to start school at the old Tyler High building on West Front Street and then become a graduate of the new John Tyler High School on Loop 323, class of 1967. Wayne then graduated from Tyler Junior College and then went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin; he was a proud Texas Exe as evident within the décor of his house. His work life was in sales from selling shoes at Leon’s in Tyler, Texas to retiring from a long career with Iwatsu America in Irving, Texas. Things Wayne enjoyed most in life were hosting his friends for a visit to watch the Longhorns or meal sometimes including Palio’s Pizza and Blue Bell Ice Cream, traveling via Harley Davidson or RV to see and learn about new things, and the simple pleasure of having things in their place. You never saw him without a thoughtful outfit; being the clotheshorse he was, if he found something he liked he might just buy it in every color available. His signature scent was Aramis, favorite thing to drink Diet Dr. Pepper and forever a new gadget for the golf course, car, motorcycle, etc. in his pocket.
Wayne was pre-deceased by all 3 of his parents, his 3rd wife Mary (nee Johnston), his cat “Kat” and his poodle Lucky. Survived by his daughters and their husbands: Tiffany and Michael Wright, Tara and Jimmy Rhodes. Grandchildren: Katarina Wright, Toby Rhodes and Madison Rhodes.
Per his request, no services are planned and a celebration of his full life will be planned at a future date this summer to be posted on Facebook and updated here.
