Roger Sunderland Service was born on June 28th, 1943 to Vernon and Helen Service in California. Where he attended High School at Huntington High. Shortly after graduating, Roger met the absolute love of his life, Marie Ann Vukojevich. Over the years, they shared many adventures, stories and laughs. Together they moved to Dayton, Nevada and resided in Dayton for 45 years, where they have built a life to share together with their family. On August 21st, 2021 they were blessed enough to celebrate their 50th year of marriage surrounded by family and loved ones.
Some would say Roger was a “jack of all trades.” Roger worked in construction as a metal framer. He enjoyed working with his hands. He loved woodworking, candle making and gardening. You could always find him in his sun room tending to his “jungle” of plants listening to classical music.
Roger Sunderland Service entered into rest on October 21, 2021 in Carson City, Nevada. Roger is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Sunny Service, his brother Rusty and daughter Robin. He is survived by his wife Marie, children Kelly (Greg) and Ryan (Lorann), grandchildren Michael, Christian, Lorrell and Trevor and his sister Claudia. He also leaves behind two loving dogs Petey and Henry. Roger loved his family and took pride in being an uncle to his nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, a spouse, a parent and a grandparent. He will be deeply missed by many.
A Graveside Service will be held at The Dayton Cemetery on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at twelve o’ clock in the afternoon. Following the service, the family would like to invite everyone to The Dayton State Park to congregate and continue celebrating Roger’s life.
