

Mr. George was born on December 19, 1949 in Decatur, GA, son of the late, Harold Edward George, Sr. and Mary Liz George.
Mr. George proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. 3rd Battalion, in the Battle of Khe-Sanh in Vietnam and was a two time Purple Heart recipient. He graduated from GA Tech with a BS in Electronics and Telecommunications and later graduated from Georgia State with a Master’s Degree in Engineering. He was a faithful employee for OEC North in Dekalb County for seventeen years and also for Wheeler High School in Marietta, GA for fourteen years, where he taught Telecommunications and Electronics. He was the author of the Georgia state curriculum for Telecommunications and Electronics and also started the Circuit Runners Robotic Team for Wheeler High School. His passion outside of teaching students was playing the guitar and he was truly an accomplished musician. He was a member of the band, The Green Machine (Marine Corps.) and also played with Conway Twitty, Michael Twitty and Loretta Lynn, just to name a few. He was later inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. He owned a television repair shop with his friend, Tom Gouge.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Edward George, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gail George; brother, J. Michael George of Panama City Beach, FL; daughters, Kimberly Diana Pilgrim (Tony) of Hampton, GA and Katherine Barrett George of Dallas, GA; step-daughters, Tracy Elizabeth Boggs of Rydal, GA and Deloris Elaine Watkins (William) of White, GA; grandchildren, Dustin and Alex George, Sydney Pilgrim, Leif, Amber and Jade Groves, Nikki and Lance Liley, Jessica Boggs (Casey Taylor) and Samantha Schunior; great-grandchildren, Liam Liley and Emmery Liley; best friends, Tommy and Karen Gouge and family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two-thirty in the afternoon on Sunday, September 13, 2014 at Rowland Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Bailey officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the GA National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held immediately following the Memorial Service at the church.
