

He was born October 5, 1930 in Paragould, Arkansas, a son of the late Ellis and Frances (Gran) Jenkins Burnett.
Bill played professional baseball in his youth with the St. Louis Browns organization. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Auto industry after being an owner of Adairsville 76 Truck Stop where he never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome. During his retirement he enjoyed his favorite hobby, golf and followed Braves baseball with his Yorkie, Chas, by his side. He was a member of several civic organizations and was particularly active in the Cartersville Country Club and the Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle Dixon Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Zell Burnett, his daughter and son in laws, Ellise and John Elmore, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Kelly and Sean McGinty, of Corvallis, Oregon, and Tracy and Terry Earwood, of Cartersville and one grandson, Jason Grimail.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 3, 2010 from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 till 7:00 P.M. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Terry Earwood, John Elmore, Danny McDaniel, Sean McGinty, Ed Petras, and Steve Shinall.
