Bobby Joe Godfrey

Mr. Godfrey was born February 25, 1943 in Jasper, Georgia, the son of the late, Tommy and Emily (Singleton) Godfrey, was retired from Union Carbide and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Hughes and Bessie Brackett.

Surviving is his wife, Bobbie (Rymer) Godfrey of Adairsville, children, Mark and Pam Godfrey and Darren and Sherri Godfrey of Cartersville, Jason and Jeanna Godfrey of Ringgold, Sharon and Randy Ellis of Cartersville, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Billy and Elaine Godfrey of Cartersville, Johnny and Pam Godfrey of White, Beatrice and Claude Millsap of Cartersville and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Darnell and Rev. Benny Thomas officiating.

Burial will follow in Cassville Cemetery.

Deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
