Carolyn Neel Bowen, age 68, of White, Georgia, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born to the late William A. Neel and Marjorie Bozeman Neel, Carolyn grew into a woman whose steadiness and quiet strength shaped the lives of those around her.
Carolyn was married to her devoted husband, S. Alan Bowen, for 45 years. Together they built a home grounded in love, faith, and laughter. She was the proud mother of Sarah Bowen Yacovett (Lee) and Sheppard M. Bowen (Kimberly), and the deeply cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren she adored: Reese, Jack, Penn, and Meg Yacovett, and Emily, Lillian, and Liam Bowen. Her family was her greatest earthly joy, and she treasured every moment she spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Susan Neel Fontana. She is survived by her siblings William Neel, Beth Neel Porter, Andrew Neel, and extended family, each of whom she loved dearly.
A graduate of Cartersville High School and Drake University, she was a caring homemaker who helped support the family’s businesses. Carolyn also dedicated time to serving her community. She was a former president of the Cartersville Service League, where her leadership and fairness touched many lives. An avid reader and enthusiastic writer, she found joy in stories—those she read, those she penned, and those she helped create through her life with family and friends.
Carolyn loved simple, beautiful pleasures: walking scenic trails with her beloved family and dogs, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, listening to music that moved her, and gathering with the people she held closest. She was a regular attendee of Crosspoint City Church, where her faith continued to grow, guide and sustain her. We take comfort in knowing she is now healed in the presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Carolyn will be remembered for her contagious laughter, her thoughtful presence, and the legacy of love she leaves behind. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
