

Mr. Charles S. Coombs ‘Dusty’, of Cartersville, GA., passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. Mr. Coombs was born on June 19, 1943 in Orlando, FL., a son of the late Charles S. Coombs Sr., and Virginia Ames Coombs.
Mr. Coombs proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his time in the military he received his bachelor’s degree in education, teaching a variety of grade levels and subjects for over thirty years. Mr. Coombs had a unique zest for life, he enjoyed talking to and learning from others around him, he was certainly known to have an answer for every question and never met a stranger. In his spare time he could be found admiring antiques, cooking, sailing, spending time with his friends. He was a very creative individual, whether it be arts and crafts or putting together floral designs and loved learning about different cultures and languages. His most proud and rewarding accomplishment was being a father to his three children.
In addition to his parents Mr. Coombs was preceded in death by one brother, Philip D. Coombs. Mr. Coombs is survived by his children, Alice Jane Coombs of Jacksonville, FL., Jonathon Charles Coombs of Bellview, FL., and Clark Soden Coombs of Jacksonville, FL.; one sister, Janet Johns of Cartersville, GA.; a niece, Julia Johns; nephew, James Johns; and his former wife Jane Clark Coombs.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating.
The family will receive friends from one o’clock in the afternoon until the time of service on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions made to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org .
