In his younger years, Chuck was an active student at Hamlin High School where he played multiple sports as well as making a difference in the student body. A best friend of his, now brother-in-law (Russ Perry), invited Chuck to church where he would soon begin his lifelong pursuit of following Christ. Chuck was saved at the young age of 15. Committed in many ways, Chucks faith was put to the test early in his relationship with Christ. After being mentioned at half time of “senior night”, Chuck found himself laying midfield, unable to move, and being transported by ambulance to the local hospital. After being told for several days that he was fully paralyzed from a broken neck and would never walk again, his young faith was tested unlike ever before. Through the various emotions that one would feel at the age of 18, Chuck chose to worship God no matter if he was paralyzed or not. Despite the surgeons, doctors, and nurses’ disbelief, God performed a miracle and fused his vertebrae back together. Chuck had feeling return to his body and 7 days later he walked out of the hospital fully healed.
In 1977, Chuck attended school at Toccoa Falls Bible College where he started his bachelor’s degree in theology. More importantly, it was these same grounds where Chuck would meet his wife, Yvonne Miller. Chuck and Yvonne would marry on December 15, 1979. Soon becoming a young husband and father, Chuck and Yvonne decided to obey the call into full time ministry. From serving at a church in Colorado to excepting a youth pastor position in GA, Chuck found himself living a life dependent on Christ. They served and pastored a small church up until God called them to full time missions. Being obedient to God’s call, Chuck started Global Missions International. It was in 1986 that Chuck and Yvonne took their young family of 5 to reside in Costa Rica.
Global Missions International continued to grow its impact where Chuck witnessed God’s work in over 10 different countries. Much like the earlier miracle he experienced as a teenage boy, Chuck was blessed to have a front row seat to seeing God work miracles throughout the years. As Chuck begin to expand the ministry, he also had the opportunity to start and serve in 3 different churches as a pastor and youth pastor. Some of these would include serving as youth pastor at Racoon Creek Baptist Church, Singles Ministry at Cartersville Church of God, and public servant at Journey Church. In the midst of doing what he loved, Chuck had the opportunity to start his corporate career as an insurance agent with Met Life. Like the beginning of anything soon to be great, Chuck was faced with opposition and challenge to his ability of becoming successful in sales. Chuck stayed committed and would soon find himself years into a successful career and the founder of Nida Financial Group.
Although successful in business, the business itself was nothing more than the avenue that God used for Chuck to connect with people. It was never about business and balance sheets; it was people that Chuck loved. A career much like his ministry that allowed the opportunity to connect with people in the community.
Beyond a busy career, Chuck made it possible to keep his family as the priority. A family that grew from 3 little girls and a boy to 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Chuck always made the time to attend a game, a movie, a dinner, to play basketball in the driveway in the middle of the heat, to help paint a house or lend a hand on the weekend. Chuck was present and intentional. Although blessed with an abundance of grandchildren and a healthy family, Chucks prize possession was Yvonne. Chuck lived his days to spoil Yvonne. He would even say, “I love spoiling you”. Chuck would stand, fight, and defend his bride. A marriage that Chuck and Yvonne would allow God to use to witness to others through their transparency. Chuck and Yvonne stood hand and hand helping to mend broken relationships, reminding those of the covenant that they had made. Chuck loved deeply and cherished Yvonne through 41.5 years of marriage.
Along with being very family oriented, Chuck thoroughly enjoyed being involved within the community. Cartersville was truly his mission field! He was a part of Cartersville’s dancing with the stars with his daughter, Anna and he enjoyed acting at the Booth Western Museum for children’s plays. Chuck even extended his personality out to an AM radio talk 1450 for over ten years. Chuck loved to trout fish with his brother John and his brother-in-law Russ. His personality shined in many ways and that was evident in every aspect of his life. Chuck touched many lives and was loved within the entire community.
