Constance (Connie) Josephine Ingram went home to be with the Jesus Friday morning, August 17, 2012. Because of the constant care and attention she received from her loving husband she was able to live in the home she had lived in for over 60 years until two weeks ago when she was at Kathy Cares Hospice. The family would like to thank everyone involved with the hospice for the help and compassion. She will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted husband Earnest R. Ingram of 70 years. She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt, neighbor and friend. She helped mother and raise three generations of Christian children. Connie was the daughter of the late John Talmadge and Bertie P. Bailey and was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Joy Ingram Thacker.
Connie is survived by her husband Earnest R. Ingram, son Ernest J. (Joe) Ingram, daughter in law Emily Ingram, daughter, Diane Barnette, son in law, Larry Barnette, grandsons Brian and Steve Barnette, Terry Thacker and Earnest J. Ingram, Jr., twelve great grandchildren, sister in laws, brother in laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
Connie and Earnest met in the old Goodyear Mill in Atco during World war Two and soon fell in love and married 70 short years ago this October. She was a homemaker until the youngest of her three children went to high school. After that, she went to work at Lay’s 5&10 on the square in downtown Cartersville. She was the head cashier and office manager there until it closed. She love reading, writing in her daily journal and spending time at their lake retreat on Lake Weiss in Cedar Bluff, Alabama. She was a lifelong Christian. For a number of years the last words she would say to anyone as they left was “be good and be careful.” We know Connie is with the Lord but she will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 19, 2012 from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with her son in law, Rev. Larry Barnette officiating and her former pastor at the New Vision Baptist Church, Rev. Barry McCullough, also officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery.
The following grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Joey Ingram, Terry Thacker, Brian Barnette, Steve Barnette, Joseph Ingram, Alex Thacker, Zak Thacker, Drew Barnette and Jon Barnette.
