

Mr. Leveen was born January 6, 1916 in Portland , Oregon, the son of Hjalmer Ephraim Leveen and Gertrude Bensen Leveen. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in World War II, was retired from Goodyear Mills where he was a left handed pitcher for the Goodyear Mills baseball team and was given the nickname” Lefty,” was a licensed Minister in the Baptist faith and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stanley Leveen.
Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Cathryn (Guyton) Leveen, children, Rilda and Griffin Padgett, Julia and Rev. James Black, Lydia and Earl Hightower, ten grandchildren and their spouses, Beth Padgett, Becky and Forrest Leachman, Jonathan and Amanda Padgett, Laura and Mitch Altman, Hannah and Shane Bernstein, Andrea Black, Matt, Taylor, Sarah and Anna Hightower, six great grandchildren, Noah and Cora Lynn Leachman, Julia and Samuel Bernstein, Allison and David Altman and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist church with Rev. Jonathan Padgett, Rev. James Black, Rev. Forrest Leachman and Rev. David Baker officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hightower, Taylor Hightower, Earl Hightower, Griffin Padgett, Shane Bernstein, Gary Boston, Darrell Black and Buddy Black.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Zion Hill Baptist Church, former Pastors of Zion Hill Baptist Church and Ernest Cochran, Danny Moss, Jimmy Temples, Lamar Beason, Billy Jordan and Rev. Ralph Shook.
