Though quiet and often soft spoken, Donald was a solid rock, an unwavering support, and a fierce protector to those he loved. He was a steadfast anchor to his family; a gentle giant to his wife; and an always perfect “listening ear” to his friends. Donald had the unique distinction of being raised and living his entire life on his family’s farm. Many days were spent cutting fields, working on his home, tinkering in his shed, or loving on another child who called him ‘Uncle Donald’. Donald was a true patriot in every sense of the word who received much joy from woodworking and working on his motorcycles. He was a member of the 1974 graduating class of Cass High School and his working career was spent in the trucking industry; most recently with Taylor Transport in Cartersville. Donald was a devoted member of Taylorsville Baptist Church where he truly loved serving in many capacities. He was a true “family man” who, 31 years ago, married the love of his life, Elaine, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. Donald was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, and friend; he will truly be missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.
Along with this parents, Donald is survived by his wife Elaine Nyberg Gentry; son, Alan Gentry; sister, Donna Lowery and one sister-in-law, Kristie Gentry; a special aunt, Sonja Gentry Fields and best friend, Eddie Branton; Donald is also survived by several very close family members and friends.
