Douglas Glen Cornwell

He is survived by his wife Kathy Cornwell; sister Pat Smith (Keith); brother Billy Wayne Cornwell (Vanessa); children Jared Cornwell, Autumn Cornwell, Corri Osborne, Angel Lee (Chris Griffin) and Mandie Mansfield (Nathan); 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Doug grew up working on his uncles dairy farm milking cows, hauling hay, mending fences and caring for animals. This is where he found his love for animals and developed his work ethic that stayed with him for the rest of his life. Throughout school, Doug excelled in football and baseball and later went to college playing baseball. His friends have always said Doug was the best pitcher they had seen.

Doug started ABC Fence Company in 1990. He is well known throughout the community and trusted for his quality work and unbeatable customer service. In 1996, Doug and Kathy married and raised five kids. Doug’s top priority has always been providing for his family. His life was a testament of love and commitment. Doug cherished every moment he spent with his family, creating memories he held onto and shared with everyone he spoke with.

Doug enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, playing with his grandchildren, his goats and chickens, building things, drinking coffee on the back porch and sitting outside by the lake singing gospel songs with his family and friends. Doug was a man of God and shared his faith with anyone that would listen. His daily life was his testimony. He believed no one was perfect, but through grace could be saved. His greatest prayer was to see his family in church. Doug stood on his principals and never wavered in what he believed.

As we remember Doug, let us celebrate the legacy he leaves behind- a legacy of love, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the Lord, his family and community. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us to live with the same strength and kindness he exemplified every day.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 beginning at 1pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 3pm from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Reverend Reggie Nation will be officiating the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Tidwell, Nathan Mansfield, Chris Griffin, Derek Hall, Autry Hall and Keith Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Weldon Tidwell, C.L. Tidwell, Joshua Marsingale and Randy Tidwell.
