Edward Carl White Jr.

Mr. White was born April 29, 1927 in Sussex County, Virginia, a son of the late Edward Carl White, Sr. and Annie Grizzard White.

He was a 1950 graduate of Elon College and a Cartersville resident since 1969. Mr. White was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cartersville, a Navy veteran of World War Two serving in the medical corps, a member of the Blanford Masonic Lodge in Petersburg, Virginia, and was retired from the Carpet and Yarn Industry. He enjoyed sailing and being on the water.

Survivors include his wife of sixty one years, Peggy Bishop White, daughter and son in law, Dr. Deborah White Beckman and husband John, of Stone Mountain and Dr. Rebecca White Root, of Atlanta, his sister, Anne Cowling, of Waverly, Virginia, his brother and sister in law, Stanley G. White and wife Kitty, of Ocala, Florida several nieces and nephews and his beloved Nifty.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Smith and Rev. Julie Jensen officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gene Gore, C.L. Kilgore. Cutis Townsend, Rick Wright, Dr. Rebecca Root, daughter, Floyd Ward, 111, Ron Goss and Adam Belcher.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
