Elaine Bonner died peacefully in the arms of the Lord on July 6th in Asheville, NC, at the age of 80.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Malline and George Carey Nelson, II, her beloved brother, George Carey Nelson III, and dear nephew, Michael Bonner.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, C. Thomas Bonner; their children, Thomas Bonner and Beth Reece; spouses, Heather Bonner and Mark Reece; and her grandchildren, Margaret, Abigail, Caroline, and Sawyer; her sisters-in-law, Terry Nelson and Carol Bonner; brother-in-law, Keith Bonner; and her nephews, George Carey Nelson IV, Patrick Nelson, Matthew Bonner and their families.
Elaine was born in Cartersville, GA. She never stopped considering Cartersville her home. She loved the Lord, His Church, and her family with all her heart. She dedicated her life to the Lord, impacting the lives of many, serving as the Director of Children’s Ministries at Trinity Presbyterian Church for over 28 years after a decade in the same role in her church in Coral Springs, Fl.
In retirement, she embraced life with a sense of adventure, traveling extensively with her husband, indulging in her love for gardening, and enjoying the outdoors. Her joy and love for life were a testament to her great faith and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Trinity community. Their kindness and generosity have profoundly touched our hearts; our family has felt very loved and supported. We are eternally grateful for their compassion and care.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 14th at 4 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC.
