Elise Thacker Collier

On June 28, 2023, Elise Thacker Collier passed away peacefully in her home in Texas. She was a loving wife and mother of three children. Elise had a sharp wit, a dry sense of humor and a deep love of family.

Her early days were spent in Cartersville, GA where she attended Cassville High School. She met and married Harold (Lucy) Collier and moved to Tucker, GA after his return from active duty in the Army.

The Collier family lived in Tucker where they were involved in local sports and activities and attended First Baptist Church. Elise worked for Peachtree Doors as an account manager for many years and made many friends. She and Harold returned to their hometown after retirement.

Elise was preceded in death by her husband Harold Warner Collier, her parents Charles Walter Thacker and Bertha Jane Worley, her siblings JC Thacker (Doris), Evelyn Wilson (Walter), Weldon Thacker (Gladys), Edna Wills (Orville), Hansel Thacker (Maefern), and Lamar Thacker (Doris).

She is survived by her children; Marsha Oxford (Al), David Collier (Cathy), and Sandra Ahlfinger, her eight grandchildren; Kara Ziegler (Adam), Nicole Chowning (Brent), Hailey Herleman (Matt), Britt Oxford (Kristy), Amanda Bruce (Patrick), Christa Beach (Connor), Aime George (Chris) and Jena Patel (Sameer); and eight great-grandchildren Kylie Ziegler, Caden Chowning, Blaise Herleman, Owen Chowning, Laila Herleman, Louie Bruce, Lucy Oxford, and Ronan Patel.

Funeral services will be held at Owens Funeral Home 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville GA.30120. Visitation will be Thursday, July 6 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 7 followed by a procession to Oak Hill cemetery for burial.
