

Frank Villareal Benavidez, 87 of Calhoun, Georgia went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, August 4, 2025. Frank was born on April 16, 1938, to Eusebio and Ruth (Villareal) Benavidez in Marlin, Texas.
He served our country in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1963.
Daddy, Pop’s, Gramps and Great-Grandpa were only a few of his favorite names, his most favorite were Trouble, Troublemaker and Agitator. If you knew him, you would know he loved Jesus with all his heart and had immense love for anyone he met.
At a very early age, while he was studying for his Electrical Engineering degree at Texas A&M in College Station, he became a pilot. He enjoyed many airplane trips in Texas, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico. Upon his graduation, he had a daughter, blessed with only one child, and he was immediately hired by Taft/Union Carbide in Luling, Louisiana. While living there he met wonderful people and joined the Jaycee’s, he even met Elvis Presley! In 1970 he accepted a transfer to Ponce, Puerto Rico, and continued working in his favorite field of engineering. In the late 70’s & 80’s he worked in Japan and Saudi Arabia and was able to travel the world, visiting many landmarks. When he retired, he moved to Huntsville, Texas where he spent his time volunteering for the Prison Ministry. In 2008 he and Sharon moved to Calhoun, Georgia to be closer to his daughter, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. His favorite pastime was to share the Gospels and wisdom he acquired through his years of studying and teaching religious education. He always made time to share the Word of God with each person he met.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Anita, two brothers, Jose and Willie, and brother-in-law Roy Marin Sr. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sharon Jolene Benavidez, one daughter, Marie Haney, one sister, Beatrice Marin, one brother, Sonny Benavidez and wife Susie; Grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer & Justin Watts, and Matthew Haney; 5 Great Grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart, Catherine Marie, MaKala Marie, Jackson, Waylen and Ally. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved very much. Cats, Panchita & Pepita.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Cartersville, Georgia with Father Kevin Hargaden officiating.
The interment of ashes will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, 1:30 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome, Georgia.
Per Dad’s request, in lieu of flowers, please make donation to St. Vincent de Paul Society (St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church location).
