I was a district merchandiser for Autozone who traveled from store to store to help managers who may have fallen behind on keeping their stores up to date. Gary pulled me from my home store to do this job for two years. What I remember was you telling me which store to go to at the beginning of the week and not being in touch with me until the end of the week. You would ask me how the store looked and I would tell you. You never questioned me and completely trusted my judgement. I’ll never forget you being confident in my abilities when your name was on the line. I’ll never forget those days.  Going to lunch with you and sharing some laughs while we were on the road. You were loved and you will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the Turner family.  Gary and I had a shared interest in American history and he made certain we were aware of his  participations in Civil War re-enactments and historical events.  As an AZ colleague , he was straight forward, hard working and would often leave you with a funny prank of sorts. He could offer advisement and make fun of you  all at the same time. He and I were born 4 days apart, and I always had to remind him that he was the older. He'll be truly missed.  Wishing the family comfort and peace during this difficult time.

I am so saddened by the news of Gary passing away on January 1, 2025. Gary and I met in the early 80s and I have wonderful memories of him!  I know he loved  his family and Civil War history,

Gary is in heaven as we both talked about giving our lives to Jesus many years ago.
I know one thing he would want everyone to know and that is to  know Jesus not just about him. He is now with the Lord and all those friends and family that have gone before him!

Gary was not only a great mentor but also an amazing friend. His wisdom and kindness touched the lives of many, and his absence will be deeply felt. I am grateful for the countless memories and lessons he shared. He will truly be missed.

My deepest condolences go to the family. Gary was my first DM at AZ. He pushed me hard and made sure I got everything I worked for once time permitted. I appreciate him listening to me, as I used to make sure he never left store 99, without him hearing I’m ready to be promoted! That efficiently happened for me and I’m still with AZ 9 years later as a DM.

I got to know Gary casually as a neighbor.  He immediately made me and my family feel welcome when we moved to the neighborhood.  He always had a kind word to offer when I saw him out and he offered to help me on more than one occasion when he saw me working on something.   He was always agreeable when I spoke to him about things that neighbors speak about.  I don't think I could have asked for a better neighbor.  He will be missed.

I met this great man in an office supply store. He was getting business cards made. We talked about working for the same company in the past. He brought me to AZ and it wasn't long until I was fixing stores and selling the dream. I had the honor of attempting to fill his shoes as District Manager when he left the company. I'm going to miss you boss.

Kellie & family, Gary as we know will be missed by all who knew him. He was not only a neighbor but a friend, I will miss the talks we had about life, motorcycles and guns. He was a true sincere person that was taken to soon from us.  
One of my greatest memories I have of him was early on when he moved in across the street from us, he fired up an old 70`s model dirt bike, put on his old school helmet and took off down the street, I said to myself "wow, that`s one cool guy" !!!
