

In addition to her parents, Genetta is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sherri Rawson; brothers, Bob Reid and Fred Reid, Jr.; and sisters, Helen Tate and Sally Jones.
She is survived by her devoted daughters: Sandra Greenwood (Earl), Sheila Jones (Rockey), and Debbie Walker (Gary). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Alexander Greenwood, Zachary Greenwood, Kristin Lanier (Justin), Laura Mauldin (Joey), Bryce Rawson, Kayla Strickland (Colton), Hannah Newsome (Tyler), and Meagan Jones (Gatlin). Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Saylor Lanier, Tynlee Lanier, Abram Lanier, Jackson Mauldin, James Mauldin, Levi Strickland, Lilly Strickland, Lincoln Strickland, Collins Newsome, Walker Newsome, and Myles Jones.
Genetta is also survived by her brothers: Louis Reid, Loy Reid, Stub Reid, Norbert Reid, and Farris Reid; and one sister, Marylou Hyatt.
A woman of unwavering faith, Genetta loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful churchgoer and strong in her Christian beliefs. She had a nurturing spirit and a heart for caregiving—spending many years working in childcare, where she especially loved caring for infants, and later extending that same love and care to elderly family members.
She found great joy in gardening and had a green thumb that could bring life to anything she planted. Her culinary skills were unmatched—famous for her chicken and dumplings, Thanksgiving dressing, and green beans. She also had a sweet tooth, especially for lollipops, and adored her feline companion, Gracie.
Genetta was a devoted and loving mother who created lasting memories on shopping trips with her daughters. She had a fondness for Lifetime and Hallmark movies and loved to dance. Genetta loved the winter season and prayed for snow. She cherished holiday traditions, turning every Christmas into a magical and unforgettable time for her family. In her later years, her focus turned to her grandchildren, whom she spoiled with love and attention.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home. Her brother, Farris Reid, will officiate the service. Genetta will be laid to rest at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens in Acworth, Georgia.
Pallbearers will be: Rockey Jones, Earl Greenwood, Alex Greenwood, Zack Greenwood, Gary Walker, and Tyler Newsome.
Genetta will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave, the faith she lived, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
