
Mrs. Cox was born on May 17, 1913 in Bartow County. She was one of nine children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Stiles Howren. Well known in the community, Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and extremely devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Cox, and her daughter, Gwendolyn Adams.
Survivors include her grandson, Robert Adams, Jr., her son in law, Robert Adams, Sr., her sister, Mrs. Emma Gilmer, her brother and sister in law, Fred and Evelyn Howren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her love of family, Mrs. Cox was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. She served as a beloved Sunday school teacher for more than sixty years. It was truly her honor and privilege to share the message of Christ through her teaching. Her life now stands as a true testament of her faith in God.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Morgan and Rev. Nathan Sanders officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Cartersville, Georgia.
Pallbearers will be Barry Gilmer, Randall Gilmer, Gary Howren, Michael Howren, Terry Howren and Donald Windsor.
