Mr. James "Jim" Lewis Spradley Sr.

Mr. James (Jim) Lewis Spradley Sr., 58, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away Thursday morning, March 18, 2010. Mr. Spradley was born March 14, 1952, to the late Charles Ellis Spradley Jr. and Mildred Lewis Spradley.

Mr. Spradley was a member of Atco Baptist Church. He was employed by Bartow County Sheriff's Office from 1976-1981, at which time he joined the Marietta Police Department and retired 26 years later with the rank of lieutenant. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. Jim was an active member of the Cartersville Elks Club No. 1969 with his wife, Judy.

Mr. Spradley is survived by his wife, Judy Stewart Spradley; his daughter, Stephanie Jordan; sons, Jamey Spradley, Brett Spradley and fiancé Whitney Massey; stepson, Jonathon Harrison and fiancé Michelle Curtis; grandchildren, Joshua Jordan, Jessica Jordan, Lucas Jordan and Brody Harrison; brothers and sisters, Susan Stephens and husband Ron, Barry Spradley and wife Brenda, Vivian Alexander, Steven Spradley and wife Debi; his mother-in-law, Emma Lou Stewart of Cartersville; brother-in-law, Steve Stewart and wife Linda of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his beloved dogs Snuffy, Gracie and Sophie.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 21, at 3 p.m. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Wigington and Pastor Doug Harris officiating. The Marietta Police Department Honor Guard will be in attendance.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 20, at Owen Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m.
