Jannie Jeffers McClendon James, age 88, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Cartersville, Georgia. She was born on August 27, 1937, in Mount Hebron, Alabama, to the late Boyd Washington Jeffers and Loa Mae Teal Jeffers.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Elbert McClendon and John Francis James, as well as her daughter, Sherri Lynn Ward.
Jannie is survived by her grandson, Frank Joseph Ford; stepdaughters, Vicki James, Julie James, and Angela (Guy) Waterman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and many cherished friends.
Jannie was a longtime and devoted member of Heritage Baptist Church. She retired from AT&T, where she worked in administration, and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member, on Friday, November 14, 2025, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Alex Gallimore officiating.
