Jerry William Orton

He was born on July 17, 1946, son of the late Eather Orton and Edna Silvers Orton.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Army between October 26, 1966 and October 25, 1968. Early in his life, while a student at Cass High School, he met June Nally and on August 26, 1965 they were married. They spent the next fifty-six years together.

Jerry was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia. He was a family man who loved being a "Papa" to his grandchildren and spending quality time with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, thrifting and working as a handyman. Jerry worked for the CSX railroad for thirty-three years before his retiring in 2006.

Along with his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Orton.

He is survived by his wife, June Orton; son, Jody (Nicole) Orton; grandchildren, Madelyn Orton, Meredith Orton and Jake Orton; and extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.

A funeral service to honor Jerry Orton will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 550 Mt. Pleasant Rd. Rydal, Georgia 30171 at 2:00pm with Rev. Josh Cowart and Rev. Brent Tatum officating. Friends are cordially invited for visitation on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr., Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
