

John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Georgia Pocian, and his beloved granddaughter, Kollins Weaver.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Hilda Rosa “Rose” Pocian; his daughters, Kristina Weaver (Josh) and Kassidi Bray (Matthew); and his cherished grandchildren, Kolton Weaver, Kamree Weaver, KellyAnn Weaver, Cruz Bray, and Winslet Bray. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Pope (Charles), nieces and a nephew, and his cousin, Steve Jones.
John grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, where his father served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In his younger years, he spent countless hours surfing and cruising around town in his beloved VW Bug—early signs of a lifelong passion. In 1978, John moved to Cartersville, Georgia, where he would build the life he loved.
Within a few years, John met the love of his life, Hilda Rosa “Rose”, and they quickly fell in love. They were married on April 19, 1980, in Cartersville, Georgia, where they shared 46 wonderful years together and raised two daughters.
John worked for 13 years at Shaw Industries before eventually retiring from Gerdau Ameristeel. Above all, John treasured time spent with his wife and family. His grandchildren were truly the highlight of his life, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by them.
Known for his love of fun and adventure, John enjoyed attending concerts and was an avid Jimmy Buffett fan. He also had a passion for woodworking and metalwork, but his greatest passion was his love for Volkswagens. He devoted countless hours traveling to Volkswagen shows, embracing the community and culture he loved so deeply.
John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family held a private ceremony to honor his life.
