

John Glenn “Buddy” Taylor, 76, of 42nd St. of Emerson, GA passed away Monday, January 14, 2013. Buddy was born July 3, 1936 in Acworth, GA. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 34 years of service. He worked in the asphalt and asphalt designs sections of the Cartersville Branch Laboratory. He is a past member of the Georgia State Engineers Association and the Georgia State Employees Association.
He enjoyed fishing, collecting numismatic items and old cars. He was into drag racing in the 50’s, winning racing and trophies at Dallas and Cahoun drag strips.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivng is his wife Barbara McCoy Taylor. They were happily married from February 6, 1960 until January 14, 2013. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a brother in law, J.L. Sawyers and a brother, Wiley (Doc) Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Taylor, mother, Margaret Stancil Taylor, sister, Carol Taylor, brother, Charlie Taylor and a very special brother in law Franklin Delano “Frank” McCoy, Nephew, Scott Sawyers and a niece, Tammy Sawyers.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013 from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Uzzel officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Baptist Church cemetery, in Rydal, GA.
The following will serve as Pallbearers, Scott Cox, Tommy Gayton, Josh Gossett, Aaron Gossett, Nick Gossett and Kyle Gossett.
The family will receive friends 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the funeral home.
