Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Garrison, and her siblings: Thelma Belcher, Wilford Allen, Willie Allen, Lanelle Kown, Dorothy Chastain, Evelyn McMicken, Glenese Tatum, and Betty Jo Hendricks.
She is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Joyce was Baptist by faith and attended Crowe Springs Baptist Church in her youth with her family. She left the small community of White, Georgia, for her first job in Atlanta with Southern Bell Telephone Company—an accomplishment that made her father very proud. She later worked for many years at EZ Mills as a seamstress.
Joyce lived a simple and meaningful life. She was passionate about gardening, especially her flowers, which covered nearly two acres and were a source of great pride and joy. An exceptional seamstress, she loved cross-stitching, embroidering, and making quilts, many of which she generously gifted to family and friends.
Joyce and her husband James enjoyed annual trips to Gatlinburg and Daytona Beach with her sister Jo and brother-in-law Everett. Joyce and James also traveled west together, visiting the Grand Canyon, Pikes Peak, and California. Jo, her closest sibling in age, shared a special bond with Joyce, including their cherished weekly Saturday shopping outings.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Kenny Jacobs at 2:00 p.m. at White Cemetery, White, Georgia.
