Linda Smith Black, 76, passed away at her home Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was married to husband Kent Black for 54 years. Linda was born December 2, 1941 the daughter of Claude & Clemmie Pettit Smith.
She was a 1960 graduate of Cass High School. She had a special love for her home, family, community and church. Upon graduation she was employed by The First National Bank; later was the medical transcriber for Dr. Mason Brown; faithfully served on the Music Staff in various roles for 51 years at Tabernacle Baptist Church; was a faithful servant for the Bread of Life Ministry; and, enjoyed sharing with others her talents of sewing and gardening.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by husband Kent and two sons, Kevin & Sunshine Black and Alan & Brandy Black; grandchildren Karsten, Caleb, Kelby, Camilla, Reghan, Reilly and Reece; brother-in-law Wayne & Barbara Black; sisters-in-laws Merriel & Alvin Hollingshed and Grace & Marvin Epps; and, a number of cousins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Black will be conducted Sunday afternoon February 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Smith, Frank Moore, Jack Reeves, Wayne Black, Jerry Prewett and Glenn Hollingshed. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to: Tabernacle Baptist Church – Bread-of-Life, 112 E. Church Street, Cartersville, GA 30120.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Owen Funeral Home.
