Margaret Woods Gentry

Margaret Ellie Woods Gentry, age 84, of Cartersville, GA passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. She was born in Forney, Alabama on January 25, 1940 to James and Erma Woods. Margaret grew up in Taylorsville, Georgia where she graduated from Taylorsville High School in the class of 1958.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, W. K. Gentry; parents and her siblings Helen Satcher, Junior Woods, Harvey Woods and Larry Woods. She is survived by her son, Michael Gentry of Cartersville; daughter, Susan Scott of Rome; son, Chris Gentry of Marietta; Grandchildren, Carolyn Gentry, Allison Gentry, Sarah Gentry, Ella Gentry, Kel Scott and Marcus Scott; Great Grandchild, Londyn Scott; numerous nieces and nephews. During her last months, she was looked after by her full time caregiver Peyton Dellaporta.

Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She retired in 1998 from Lockheed Martin after 35 years of service. She spent her time at the company as an administrative assistant.

Margaret loved spending time with her friends and family. She attended New Hope Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Brown. Alongside the people in her life, she also loved to spend time in her sunroom with her many dachshunds through the years. Some of her favorite indulgences include Diet Coke, peanut butter fudge, and Cherry Chapstick tucked in her pocketbook.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Pastor Drew Brown officiating. The entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with Keith Conway, Johnny Frasier, Nevin Harris, Shane Jackson, Perry Littlefield, and Rickey Woods serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home.
