Marlin Clay Benton, Sr.

Skip is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Francis Benton Sr., and his twin sister Tina Benton Wilbanks. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Jones Benton; children, Marlin Clay Benton Jr. and his wife Stacy, and Tim Benton; grandchildren, Audrey Benton and Cadey Benton; sister Brenda Benton Scoggins; brother Ralph Benton, Jr. and his wife, Patsy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Skip was a 1964 graduate of Fulton High School, and a 1970 graduate of Huron University in Huron, SD, where he played basketball on scholarship. He retired from the Cedartown Post Office in 2008 after 23 years of service. He attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville, GA. He enjoyed Wednesday rounds of golf and numerous other sports activities with family and friends.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge, GA with Dr. Roger Beck officiating.
