

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Gene McKay Sr. She is survived by her son, Joel McKay Jr.; daughter, Lisa Brittian; grandchildren, Misty Davis, April (Scottie) Dale, Joshua (Daisy) Brittian, Ashley Brittian; great grandchildren, McKayla Hostetler, Bryson Keeney, Lillian Brittian, Grant Brittian, Alivia Brittian, Cole Brittian Barajas, Ruben Brittian Barajas, Alaina Dale, Alyssa Dale, Jacob Dale; special grandchildren by heart, Sara Franklin, Heather Price; a host of nieces and nephews.
Maxine was the oldest member of Emerson Baptist church. She sang alto and tenor in the choir. She loved teaching Sunday school, vacation Bible School and children’s choir. She retired after 27 years from Emerson Elementary School as a media clerk.
Maxine loved spending time with her family. She was well known for her home cooked meals. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music singing loudly. She loved playing the piano and organ. She love playing cards and sitting on the front porch. Some of her favorite things was humming birds, angels, roses, crosses and the color Yellow.
Maxine was a firm believer of Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. She was greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved by all her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Emerson Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Patterson, Rev. Chris Weldon and Donovan Shook officiating. The interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with Scottie Dale, Al Pallone, Mike McPherson, Donny McPherson, Joshua Brittian and Phillip New serving as pallbearers and Jerry Bevill, Michael New, Kenneth New, Billy Popham, Frankie Duran Carey Evans and Phil Westbrooks serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Owen Funeral Home.
