Nannette Enloe, passionate about her Christian faith, adult education and the wonder of God’s creation, passed away at the age of 93. She suffered a head trauma after a fall and had a significant brain bleed.
Born on January 19, 1932, in Montgomery, Alabama, Nannette was the daughter of Caroline Hansell Enloe and Van Porter Enloe. She grew up alongside her siblings, Sarah Enloe Munn and Hansell Porter Enloe, in a home filled with love, faith, and a deep connection to nature. Much of her childhood was spent on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, where her father served as superintendent of the RM Clayton Plant.
Nannette graduated from West Fulton High School and went on to attend Maryville College in Tennessee, graduating in 1952. She received a Master’s Degree in Adult Education from Michigan State University. Following her passion for education and leadership, she devoted her career to the Girl Scouts of the USA. Her work took her across the country—from Roanoke and New York City to Flint, Michigan, and finally Atlanta, Georgia. As a national consultant, she also traveled internationally, helping shape programs in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Georgia. She was a devoted friend to her life-long partner, Jeane Johnson.
In retirement, Nannette continued to serve with grace and commitment. She was a devoted member of her church, serving as both a deacon and elder, and teaching Sunday School for over 25 years. Her legacy is one of Christian faith, service, and quiet strength.
She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and all who were touched by her generous spirit and tireless dedication.
A celebration of Nannette’s life will be held January 19, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church, Cartersville, GA : https://cartersvillepres.org/
